Deadpool

As I am beginning to learn to paint digitally and take illustration more seriously, I have set a goal that I will draw daily no matter what. If that means that I spend five minutes or ten hours, pen or stylus will meet a surface on a daily basis. I will be starting classes soon, so everything up until June, 2013 will be considered hobbyist art with no instruction. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

My first real trial piece using the Cintiq and Photoshop, was this Deadpool character piece. This is only the character, and not the background. I will make other characters soon, and add them to a background image with this piece.

I started by making a rough outline drawing of a famous MMA fighter. I chose George Saint Pierre because his body type is the most similar to that of Deadpool’s. Lean, but defined and well built.

Once I had the basic lines in, I made adjustments to the basic structure of the body, giving him larger biceps, an extended jaw, and more muscle definition. I also added gloves, a mask, and a belt. I then laid basic color to the piece.

Next I added secondary colors and begun working on the shading/ textures.

Finally the lighting, and other fine details were added to give the piece a finished look.

Voila, my first real digital painting.
